The Florida Ag Expo Program Now Available

The Florida Ag Expo is scheduled for Nov. 2 at the Gulf Coast Research and Education Center (GCREC). The educational program is now published. It will provide attendees with a wide range of topics from the supply chain to pest management.

The morning general session will host industry leaders speaking on key issues facing the specialty crop industry. Cathy Burns, International Fresh Produce Association, will provide insights on what’s next on the horizon for the produce industry as the world emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic. Jerry Parrish, Florida State University, will provide an update of Florida’s economic outlook and how agriculture fits into the puzzle. And Greg Fowler, CNI, will give an overview of where the crop protection supply chain sits and what to expect in terms of price trends for 2023. Scott Angle, University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, will discuss how artificial intelligence and new fertilizer research will be game changers for agriculture.

The afternoon educational program will break out into two concurrent sessions. One will focus on pest management and the other on breeding programs being conducted at GCREC. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be offered for these sessions.

The education program will be capped off with a field tour. The field tour is a signature feature of the Florida Ag Expo and always well attended. This year’s tour will feature nematode, disease and weed management. The last stop on the tour will be at the GCREC hops yard with a beer tasting of beverages brewed with locally grown hops.
